About CHHC

Objective

In order to improve the students' speech and learning ability, each member will share their Chinese history and culture in order to enrich students' knowledge and understanding of Chinese culture. Through the exchange platform of CHHC, more and more people will experience the charm of Chinese cultures and learn them easily through communication and sharing in the future. The ideas is that the development of the Chinese history and culture lecture such that this is conducive for students to become initiative learning. This better allows students to absorb and learn the history knowledge on their own which they previously considered tedious. In addition, members in CHHC will share courseware content with other members in a simple and easy-to-understand manner in order to promote them to develop good habits of preparation before class, self-learning, and language organization.

Lecture Form

CHHC has continued to carry out lectures focused on lecture ability. Since the beginning of the activity, each member will present a presentation (Power point/Google Slides) and give the audience their own speeches (viewpoints sharing). Presentation slides may include video clips and fun animations to better convey ideas. The duration of each presentation should be from 10 minutes to 40 minutes depending on lecturers preparation and presentation ability. To make sure that everyone is engaged in activities, lecturers need to prepare questions to ask audience or create fun activities. Recent Results

Members have gradually evolved from obscure to fluency and expressive. The courseware content was simple and overly depending on web resources. It is rich in content now and can be easily understood using their own language and the mainline is clear. The progress of the members occurred as the activities proceeded. It is not only through the members' own efforts but also self-improvement in conjunction with the speech experiences and feedback of other members. Future Plan

First, the plan for the future of the CHHC is to introduce excellent courseware and do outside Chinese cultural exchanges and lectures. Second, CHHC will also open up public lectures to creat oppurtunities for lecturers practicing public speaking skills. Third, CHHC will continue to do translation project in school, which mainly focused on school news translation in Palo Alto High School. Fourth, to better communicate people from different places around the world who would like to speak Chinese history and culture, we established an organization called Chinese Corner.
